Archive for August, 2011

Erin Feis on the Riverfront is an annual event held in August each year celebrating Irish Music, Food, and Culture.  Along with Irish dancing and Irish whiskey, they have a Cultural Village highlighting different aspects of Irish life.  This was my second year to be presenting on Irish Cooking.  This year’s presentation “Irish Tea Time” was great fun to put together.  I’ve loved afternoon tea ever since my many months living in England just after college.  I travelled all through Cornwall eating every cream tea I could find!  Tea is just as much a social tradition in Ireland.  In fact, the Irish drink more tea per capita than any other country.

Irish Tea Time Menu
Barry’s Irish Tea (brewed and served in 100 degree Summer temps)
Cheese and Chutney Tea Sandwiches
Scones with Clotted Cream and Blackberry Jam
Swedish Coconut Cookies (I know… not Irish but a great cookie compliments of my Irish Grandmother)
Glazed Irish Tea Bread
Irish Curd Cheesecake
Thanks to Fresh Market for donating all the ingredients for Irish Tea Time.
